Obama is Going for It.

After his inauguration speech I had hope the President Obama would start taking climate change and the action that needs to be done seriously - and it seems that he is. During his State of the Union address, Obama took a stance saying that he was going to work towards confronting climate change.

President Barack Obama addresses the nation during the 2013 State of the Union in Washington D.C.
"We must do more to combat climate change," President Obama said during his State of the Union speech Tuesday night, calling for more renewable energy while promising to speed permits for oil and gas development.

Now that he has reached his second, and final term, I think Obama is ready to push some buttons. He acknowledges that the world is heading in a bad direction and that we need to take a lead in making changes on bettering the future and working towards becoming more environmentally friendly. He fully accepted that Congress may not support him in his environmental push and said that he will move forward anyway, using his executive power to enact change.
While not everyone agrees with Obama's decisions on some environmental issues, like the Keystone Pipeline, which he failed to mention in his speech, I think we need to give credit where credit is due. President Obama is taking the first steps in making America more ecofriendly. He believes that it is time for us to begin this change, not only so we can compete with other countries, like China, who are also beginning to push for a green initiative - but also we can provide a better future and world for the coming generations.
You may not agree with everything that Obama does, but you should back him up with this. He is ready to start a change, and we should be ready too.

  1. I am happy to see that Obama is standing up for the environment and wants to push green energy to a new high level. I am sure he is making a lot of people mad in congress that he is trying to move away from fossil fuels but at least he has the courage to do it and cares about our future.
